Hospice for Google Reader

Whaaat?  I just logged onto my google reader and it said it was being discontinued in July.

{bitter face}

I get it, Google is focusing on what's really important, but I darn it, I AM IMPORTANT.

I take back all those tips I ever sent you.  Ok, I didn't.

So, does anyone else have a great replacement for my little reader friend?

Honestly, I am not a huge fan of the reader interface on my phone, so I'd happily change to something else, if only you could point me in the right direction.

Good, sweet blog readers... where is the Yellow Brick Road of blog readers?

I am trying out feedly and i like it so far. not as much as i like my google reader - but then again, i'm a creature of habit.

the nice thing about feedly is that it will important all your feeds over when you sign in. AND it will keep them in groups they are in -- and with the names you gave them. (Cause I also tried bloglovin' - and while it will import your feeds, it won't important your organization or names).

In addition, feedly is going to support and store your feeds - like google reader currently does with a back end called Normandy. So when the reader stops working - there will be a seemless transition.

So far so good.

I started using The Old Reader, which I like very much. It was created to be like the old Google Reader before Google changed things. It's still in Beta and trying desperately to handle all the unexpected new users since Google made the announcement that their Reader was being canceled. But, it works great and meets all my needs. Also, I like supporting start-ups :)

My husband uses Feedly, which he likes.
